Are you a Paula Deen lover? I'm a big ol' fan and jumped at the chance to go to a signing for her latest cookbook, "Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible" last week. Besides her endearing personality and yummy cooking, I really admire how she took matters into her own hands and worked her butt off to create her own success story. What a gal.
Here's how my time at the signing table went. My friend Katherine was behind me in line and got some really entertaining shots:

Hand on heart, this is Paula and her husband Michael listening to me tell them how I broke my foot tripping over the baby gate. Michael was the first to ask, "What happened to you?" (He's way chattier in person than what you see on TV.) They were both so sweet and concerned about how I was getting along having toddlers.

This is Paula trying to get my story straight. "So you went over the gate?" I told her to make sure her daughter-in-law is careful since my doctor told me this is a common injury for moms. (Note the fake Southern porch setup behind them. Classic.)

Hilarious! I guess I horrified Michael with something; I swear I wasn't giving them gory medical details. He sympathized with my husband, saying: "He must be tearing his hair out." (That's me in the corner with the dreaded crutches.)

All of the friends I was with noticed Paul's bling. Wowzers. We all had a very positive experience and are in agreement that these two are some genuinely good folks. I heard that they stayed a couple of hours after the signing to make sure all of the books were signed too. Best Dishes!
