I'm Design Editor, also known as Catherine Davis.
I grew up as a proud Army brat in a close family. I love any and all 80's music. I'm 40 and buy clothes at Forever 21. I'm a sucker for anything British and cherish my DVR.
I'm married to Jim and mom to 4-year-old twins Maggie and Charlotte. My husband, a tall newspaperman turned high school english teacher, has a wicked sense of humor and insane grilled-cheese skills. As for our girls, we tried for years to have a baby and were blessed with two. They are the stars of 99% of my projects.
My love affair for design started when I was an editor of my high school yearbook. It was my first experience putting words and photos together and I was hooked. Since then, I spent seventeen years as an award-winning art director and designer at daily newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times. You can take a peek at my journalism design portfolio here.
A few years ago, my need to design everything in my life led me to the world of scrapbooking which is highly addictive. So addictive that I left journalism to make the world of papercrafting my career. I'm currently the Product and Design Manager at Studio Calico and a member of their Creative Team.
I started Design Editor in 2008 as a place to celebrate all things design. You'll find posts on graphic design like font picks, free downloads and video tips. I feature things that inspire me creatively like visual eye candy, link lists and monthly music playlists. You'll even see a fun craft project and giveaway every once in awhile.
