I tackled Day in the Life last Thursday.
This is a project created by Ali Edwards to document one day in-depth. I took on the challenge last year and really liked it. (Here are my results for 2012.) I've turned it into an exercise in focusing the camera on myself versus family life and the kids, which I tend to do a lot with Project Life and layouts. I know other moms can relate, right?
This year I narrowed the focus even more on my work day. I tend to skim over this part of my life in memory keeping. Sitting at a computer and going to meetings all day is a bit of a storytelling snore for me. Since this is a big part of my life, it was time to challenge myself!
(FYI: My camera bowed out my image a bit here. The patterned paper is a straight cut, not angled at all.)
I think of this as a glimpse into a typical day. I converted the images to black and white for consistency and kept the design bare bones with journaling that is more general rather than specific times and detailed moments. (I also work with a ton of people even though you don't see them here. This was a really busy day and I didn't want to get in their faces. "Hey, be in my scrapbooking project!")
These are two facing pages in 8.5x11 Project Life Horizontal Page Protectors that are included in my Project Life album. The patterned paper is from this month's Studio Calico Scrapbooking Kit.
Did you do Day in Life? If not, you can go for it anytime. No rules! If you'd like to try it, Ali has awesome collage templates and a layered template set designed for monthly documentation.
