The Oscars. I loved Meryl's speech and how she thanked her husband. I was thrilled for Octavia Spencer and thought Michelle Williams was the best dressed. But let's face it font lovers, the big winner from last Sunday's Oscar telecast was...the typography!
I absolutely loved these titles used for the big categories. After some digging and discussions with fellow designers, the consensus is Baskerville is the serif and Gotham is the sans serif.
I found a nice set of free vector vintage ornaments that are pretty darn close, if not the same designs that were used. Download here.
Another font used throughout the telecast was the fabulous Archer. Now, I'm not going to lie; this slab serif from Hoefler & Frere-Jones is pricey. Try Museo Slab for a similar, free alternative.
