I am no snob when it comes to decorating.
Yes, I love design magazines featuring multi-million dollar homes and post photos of fancy rooms. But like most of us, it serves as inspiration and escape versus reality. That's why my own personal style includes some major bargain hunting and creative solutions.
I'm going to start sharing some of these ideas in a new occasional series called Around My House. It will focus on specific decorating topics featuring my own house and submissions from readers. If you want to share ideas from your home, email me!THIS WEEK'S TOPIC: TYPOGRAPHY You can really fill up some wall space fast with typography at little cost and get some great design impact at the same time.
I just made these prints (pictured above and at the top of the post) for my guest room with dates that are important in our lives. The frames are from Walmart so I think the whole thing cost $10 altogether.
I enlarged some of our favorite album covers from cd sleeves for our home office. Frames from CB2. (No longer available, but Urban Outfitters has a similar frame.)
My latest bargain shopping score is this beachy sign from HomeGoods. It will look great in my living room and it cost $14.99. Now that relaxes me.
I created a couple of things with typography for my daughters' nursery, too. Keep an eye out for those projects and more kiddie inspiration when I host a week-long series devoted to all things baby. Coming soon!
