Sara Duckett wears many hats. Besides having a wonderful online boutique, Sadie Olive, she also has a great blog, Sadie Olive~le journal, and sister design and photography businesses.
One of her many talents includes decorating her beautiful home that I thought you'd enjoy touring. Her keen eye for editing and finding antiques and collectibles has been featured in magazines like Woman's Day and Romantic Homes. The house didn't start out this fabulous--she and her husband did some major work.
Sara was kind enough to share some photos and details:
- We tore out the old Spanish style pavers in the kitchen, laundry room, dining room, and living room, and replaced them with sea grass carpet.
- We smoothed the drywall to remove the texture in all of the bedrooms, laundry room and living room and repainted in softer colors.
- Replaced the interior and exterior doors and windows, and used crystal knobs for the door hardware.
- We added a front porch addition and master bedroom and bathroom.
- The kitchen and dining room features were done by the previous owner (tin ceiling and harlequin pattern) but we had them repainted in black and cream to go with our new color scheme. But those were some of the things that made us fall in love with the house. (We made an offer the very first day we saw it).
- We painted the cabinets and retiled the laundry room.
Their hard work really paid off...
A special thank you to Sara for sharing! Check out her blog and flickr for before and after photos!
